about june’s jams studio

June Ahn is a Chicago based ceramicist and illustrator. Before her foray into ceramics, June worked in plant science laboratories, botanic gardens, and various museums. After leaving her job as an arts administrator and graphic designer, she decided to take a clay class at the local community college. She fell in love with mold making and took the leap in pursuing ceramics full time. June is currently a studio resident at Edgewater Pottery.

Coming from a background of plant science, she has a deep appreciation and love for vegetal forms. She makes her own plaster molds and slip casts to create these whimsical creatures. When not in the studio, she is probably scouring farmers markets and grocery stores for interesting and unique fruits.
